FLUSH MOUNTED FACTORY STYLE TAIL LIGHTS

PARTS & SUPPLIES NEEDED
Flat 3/4" weatherstripping (purchased from AZ)
8 - 1" screws (you may be able to reuse your factory screws)
Silver paint pen
Touch up paint
Masking tape

TOOLS NEEDED
Jigsaw with sheet metal blades
Drill with bits
Screw driver
Utility Knife

1. Start by removing your factory tail light assemblies and the gas filler neck mount. You will have to remove the plastic filler neck mount from the metal filler neck and tape over the open hoses.

2. Next, tape the areas you plan on cutting with the masking tape. This will stop the jigsaw from scratching your paint. I forgot to do it on the passenger side and things got ugly. Using the lens as a guide, mark the 4 screw holes with the paint pen. Keep in mind that the light housing will now be behind the metal, so you will have to move the lights down slightly so they will hit the top of the rear weel well hump. This will mean that you will have to trim the plastic gas filler neck. Ideally, you want the lights up as high as you can get them without interfering with the wheel well hump.

2. Drill where you marked the lens screw holes. Now mark a rectangle just inside of the screw holes you made for the taillight lens. This inner rectangle is where you will remove material so that light shows through.

3. Make your cuts with the jigsaw then do a test fit. If things look good, go ahead and use the touch up paint over your cuts & holes. This is also a good time to line the outside of the tail lens with the weatherstripping. Use the utility knife to cut away any excess.

4. Once again, do a test fit but this time mock up the driver side light with the plastic gas filler neck. mark with the paint pen to see where you will have to remove material.

5. Once you get it cut and fitting well, put everything back together and that's it.
