1. After installing my new SOA springs and ordering matching shocks I decided to go out on the club RTI and check things out. I discovered that I didn't have a lot of compression left in the front shocks and that if I didn't do something before my springs broke in I'd end up busting them. Part of the reason for my shocks not having a lot of room for compression was because I had an upper conversion mount... it's for sale now ;)
2. First thing to do per MORE's instructions was to measure a line a few inches up from the frame. I had test fitted where the tower was going to go and I knew I had plenty of overlap so I didn't worry about making the cut perfectly but they came out pretty well. I used a sawzall but I have been told by others an 4-4.5" angle grinder will works as well. After you make your cut you can do a test fit.
3. The instructions say that the supplied bolt should hold everything together without further modification but they do mention welding. I plan on beating the tar out my YJ so I went ahead and marked things for welding. Then I removed the hoops and cleaned off the paint on the stock towers near my marks. I also took this time to paint the new towers because some parts would not be reachable by paint while they are installed. Once that dried I reinstalled the towers, torqued them down and welded them on.
4. After fighting the shocks on I took a test drive. The shocks were rubbing the top of the wheel well and making some interesting sounds. I took the shocks back off and tried to beat the wheel wells in for room. When that didn't work out the way I had hoped I took a few measurements. Using the dremel, I cut out parts of the wheelwells for the needed space and that was it.
